  • The variety of authentication and authorization procedures may make it difficult to scale the obtention of access tokens from heterogeneous and sometimes legacy IT systems. This is especially true for programmatic access that tends to consume multiple services. A variety of technological approaches may be involved, e.g. web services, RESTful APIs, CLIs, SDKs, etc. And considering one technological approach, such as web services, it may have a well-standardized syntax but its semantic may vary widely Manteigueiro et al., 2020.
